A New Generation of International Legal Education

SCBD works with universities, colleges, international curriculum centres and education organisations to develop structured international Law programmes with credible academic standards, clearly defined progression routes and sustainable institutional delivery.

Our International Law TNE & University Progression Program supports partner institutions in two areas:

  1. supporting eligible student cohorts in applying for established International Commercial Law 2+2 pathways; and

  2. helping universities develop their own 1+3, 2+2 or 3+1 Transnational Education programmes in Law, International Commercial Law and related disciplines.

SCBD operates as a B2B institutional partner. Student recruitment, academic preparation and application support are delivered in collaboration with approved schools, colleges, universities and education organisations.

International Commercial Law 2+2 Progression

SCBD supports partner institutions whose students are interested in progressing to the International Commercial Law 2+2 programme associated with Southwest University of Political Science and Law.

The programme provides a pioneering model for international undergraduate legal education in China. Under the published 2+2 structure, students complete two years of study in China, including English-language preparation, bridging courses and selected academic modules. Students who successfully complete the required curriculum and meet the relevant academic and English-language conditions may progress to an overseas partner university for the final two years of undergraduate study.

The International Commercial Law curriculum is designed to develop understanding of areas including:

  • Contract Law

  • International Sale of Goods

  • Company Law

  • Agency and Partnership Law

  • Product Liability

  • Negotiable Instruments

  • International Commercial Arbitration

  • Legal research, analysis and academic English

The published programme objective is to develop commercially aware legal graduates with international perspectives and strong research and analytical capabilities.

Through institutional partnerships, SCBD can support:

  • student eligibility and academic profile review;

  • programme briefings for schools, students and parents;

  • application document preparation and submission coordination;

  • English-language and academic readiness planning;

  • pre-law, legal English and academic skills provision;

  • transition preparation before overseas study;

  • communication between participating institutions;

  • progression monitoring and student support systems.

Final admission, credit recognition and progression decisions remain subject to the requirements of the delivering and receiving universities.

Develop a Law TNE Programme at Your University

SCBD also works with universities seeking to establish international undergraduate Law pathways in partnership with overseas institutions.

Depending on institutional objectives, regulatory requirements and curriculum compatibility, programme structures may include:

  • 1+3 Programme

Students complete the first year at the home institution before progressing to an overseas university for the remaining three years of the degree.

This model is suitable for institutions seeking to provide a strong foundation in academic English, legal study skills and introductory legal concepts.

  • 2+2 Programme

Students complete the first two years at the home institution and the final two years at an overseas partner university.

This structure can provide a balanced combination of local delivery, international progression and structured curriculum articulation.

  • 3+1 Programme

Students complete three years at the home institution before completing the final stage of study at an overseas partner university.

This model may be appropriate where substantial local delivery capacity already exists and the overseas year is designed to provide advanced study, specialisation or international exposure.

All structures are subject to academic validation, credit mapping, awarding-university requirements and applicable regulatory approval.

Law, Business and International Perspective

SCBD’s approach connects legal education with business, commerce and international practice.

International Commercial Law is not taught only as a collection of legal rules. Students are encouraged to understand how law operates within companies, financial markets, cross-border transactions, entrepreneurship, dispute resolution and global business relationships.

This interdisciplinary approach is particularly suitable for universities seeking to develop programmes in areas such as:

  • International Commercial Law;

  • Law with Business;

  • Corporate and Financial Law;

  • International Trade Law;

  • Law and Management;

  • Legal Technology and Innovation;

  • Compliance and Risk Management;

  • Intellectual Property and the Creative Industries.

Work with SCBD

Whether your institution wishes to provide students with access to an established International Commercial Law 2+2 pathway or develop a new 1+3, 2+2 or 3+1 Law programme, SCBD provides the academic, operational and international partnership support required to move from concept to sustainable delivery.

  • Develop international legal talent.

  • Connect universities across borders.

  • Build Law programmes for a changing world.
