Intangible Heritage
Innovation Project

The Intangible Heritage Innovation Project connects students with master artisans (e.g., Miao silver forgers, Thangka painters) and Western artists (RISD/UAL alumni) to co-create fusion artworks through its "1+1+1" mentorship model. Participants receive hands-on training in rare techniques (like Su embroidery stitches or mineral pigment grinding) while decoding cultural narratives (e.g., Qiang wedding symbols). Artists guide the transformation of heritage elements—such as Dunhuang motifs into AI-generated digital patents or dynamic light installations—using 3D scanning and AI tools. The project ensures commercial impact via brand collaborations (e.g., "Shang Xia" co-branded products), (Florentia Village art markets), and blockchain IP monetization. Students evolve from skill learners to cultural entrepreneurs, producing exhibition-ready works with master certifications, digital copyrights, and sales data—key for elite school applications (e.g., a Central Saint Martins admit who digitized Hui’an women’s cloth). Addressing traditional pitfalls like shallow portfolios, it builds "heritage storytelling + tech innovation +business" competencies in 10-15 day intensives, delivering exhibition records, patents, and recommendation letters to bridge academic and career goals.
